The Dehler shipyard (now part of the German Hanse Group) has announced the release of a new One Design monotype: the Dehler 30 OD . With this sailboat, Dehler wants to relaunch what has long been called the Racer Cruiser. A sailboat capable of racing between 3 crewed buoys and comfortable enough to spend weeks of cabotage on board with the family.
In the tradition of the Dehler sailboats that forged this brand, such as the Sprinta Sport or the DB1, the 30 OD is looking for performance. It is above all lightweight (2.8 tons for 9.14 m hull length with 900 kg of ballast). The yard equipped it with a carbon mast and even a long removable bowsprit.
To facilitate navigation with a reduced crew, the 30 OD is equipped with ballast (200 l) which makes it stiffer in the absence of crew members. The Judel Vrolijk drawing takes up the "amputated" bow, which reduces the length of the deck and reduces the weight. To limit drag, the sailboat is equipped with a retractable electric motor in the transom controlled by a lever in the cockpit.
Inside, the arrangements are sketchy. No door, just 2 rear berths and a front triangle that can be converted into a berth. A kitchen cabinet faces a small bathroom with WC. The chart table is reduced to a screen that rotates on the mast sponge. It's sketchy, but enough for the cruise.
This rather aggressive innovation should show its full potential during the 2019 autumn shows in Cannes and La Rochelle. Announced at 108 900 euros, the price is as interesting as the design!
