What solution can be found to ensure that young people have easy access to water sports? An English society is trying to respond to this problem, which sees the seafarers' population ageing dangerously. Their idea: the Maverick dinghy.
This machine, which is 3.35 m long, is designed to operate in several modes. If the wind is missing, it can be considered as a paddle and row forward. Very wide (1.30 m), it offers very good stability and its volume offers very good buoyancy.
If the wind rises, you can then install two sails on the sides and install a mast. With the rudder and the daggerboard, the Maverick becomes a small dinghieship capable of sailing 2 people (155 kg maximum load). The polyethylene shell (43 kg) is resistant to all types of torture. Still as stable as ever, it will also allow you to navigate upright. The Maverick will be delivered with 2 sail sizes (5 and 6.25 m2) to suit the wind and crew.
Finally, windsurfing enthusiasts will also be able to rig a board mast and sail without a rudder.
Available from 3,400 euros, the Maverick is very easy to use and fun to play. It will be present in La Rochelle at the Grand Pavois 2019 where it can even be tried.
