What happened on your bodies of water this weekend? (24-25 August)

Many regattas were held this weekend from August 24 to 25, 2019 on our waterways, but not that here is a summary of what happened.

French Open and Youth Championship Windfoil?; Kitefoil and Kite Freestyle (24 to 29 August)

Top start of the French Open and Youth Championship Windfoil?; Kitefoil and Kite Freestyle at Leucate sunday, August 25. The first departure was made at about 3:30 p. m. It was the Kitefoilers who opened the competition in fairly light wind conditions (10 knots from the SE). French Solo Crew Championship (August 25)

For the 3rd consecutive year, the French Solo Crew Championship was launched on Sunday, August 25, with a day of training. More than 450 young sailors between 14 and 25 years old will go until Friday to fight in the Rade of Brest in the 9 competing series (Laser 4.7 G and F, Laser Radial G and F, Laser Standard, 420 G and F, 29er Open, Longtze Collective Fleet).

Open Mach Trophy 2019 (August 24 and 25)

12 sportboats raced in the Bay of Quiberon this weekend on August 24 and 25 under a shining sun. If the wind was light this Sunday, it finally increased to 10 knots, allowing the race committee to launch three races. In Mach 6.5, L'Ankou skippered by Nicolas Troussel won the event with flying colors, just like Sébastien Thetiot on Kermancy Open Bar in Open 7.50.

2019 French Espoir Glisse Championship (August 23rd)

The decisive Medal Race to crown the new French Champions Espoirs took place on Friday 23 August in Brest. Nine titles were awarded for as many series, in catamarans (SL 16, SL 15.5, HC 16, Nacra 15), windsurfing (RS : X F, RS : X H, Techno 293 F, Techno 293 H) and Open 5.70. From the sun, a slight easterly flow between 6 and 10 knots, the show will have been there to designate the best representatives of the #Generation2024, these young sailors "programmed" for the Olympiad at home on the Marseille side.

Optimist International Summer Cup 2019-2020 (August 17-23)

After 2011 and 2015, the Centre Nautique de Plérin once again hosted the Optimist International Summer Cup. It was under a bright sun that the official competitions on the three rounds for the minimes, the benjamins and the OPENs started on August 19. A 10-15 knot NW'ly flow on a flat sea allowed all the sailors to get their feet wet.

After several days of racing, in the general classification, it is the monegasque Leonardo BONELLI who is crowned in the minimes followed by the Dutch Floris SCHRAFFORDT and Come VIC-MOLINERO from La Mouette Sinagote, the first girl is Lomane VALADE from CN Rennes. It was the Belgian Vic ROSSEL who won the 2019 CIE in the youth category, followed by Charles TROLARD of YC La Grande Motte and Thelio GIANNANTONI of Loguivy Canot Club, first daughter: the Swiss Justine BARBARIN. Finally, among the OPENs, Gabriel BERGER from Plérinais won the scratch classification Valentin BELLES of CN Rennes is second and Thibault TRICAUD of CN Croisette is third. Valentin BELLES is the first youngest and the first daughter is Alizée CHINOT from CV Cazaux Lac.

Test Event 470 (August 22nd)

Last week, the athletes of the French Olympic Sailing Team were competing in their "Test Event" on the Olympic water surface of Enoshima, Japan. This Thursday, the women's 470 pair, Camille Lecointre, bronze medallist at the Rio Olympic Games, and her new teammate Aloise Retornaz, largely dominated their final and won the Test Event, the big dress rehearsal one year before the Tokyo 2020 Games.
