The Brest Multi50 Trophy will take place from 5 to 8 September in Brest harbour. On the competition program, a Multi50 French Champion title for one of the five participants. Bateaux.com will follow the event from the inside, as we have the chance to board one of the cars.

The Trophée de Brest Multi50 will take place in Brest from September 5 to 8, 2019. While the Grand Prix de l'Ecole Navale âeuros, the eventâ??s organizing association, was held from May 30 to June 1, the Multi50 competition was exceptionally moved to September to allow as many boats as possible to take part.

For the 2nd year running, the 50-foot trimarans will compete for the title of Champion de France. There will be five on the starting line, aiming for the coveted title, awarded in 2018 to Erwan Le Roux, winner of the last edition aboard Fenetrea Mix-Buffet (now Groupe CGA Mille et un Sourires in the hands of Gilles Lamiré).

"This is the last event in our Grand Prix trilogy. It's a good opportunity to make further progress in maneuvers and speed, as it's the last event before the Transat Jacques Vabre. We're really pleased, because last year we got a great welcome from the town of Brest and the Ecole Navale. This year, they agreed to postpone the event to allow us to have a full fleet, and that's remarkable on the part of an organizer. There's a French championship title at stake. It's a recognition from the federation that's important to us, because we're keen to show that there's a high level of competition" explains Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, skipper of the Multi50 Solidaires en Peloton âeuros ARSEP.

Sébastien Rogues (Primonial, ex Réauté Chocolat) will be in Brest for the first time, taking part in his 3rd Multi50 race. This multihull specialist promises to be a serious contender, having achieved excellent results in previous races.

"It's a godsend for the team to take on three Grand Prix (after St Quay Portrieux and Douarnenez, editor's note) and finish with Brest. We know we're in the mix and that we can win races, so that's a pleasure," he explains.

They will be joined by Lalou Roucayrol (Lalou Multi), Gilles Lamiré (Groupe GCA âeuros Mille et un sourires), and Loïc Fequet (Ciela Villages).
