Web series / Under The Pole III: A Capsule to Live Under the Sea

After the ballast installation and the preparation of La Capsule, the Under The Pole team proceeds to install it underwater in this 3 episode dedicated to the Capsule.

After the site preparation, it is time to install the Capsule. The ballasts are now installed on the seabed and divers will come to hang their underwater habitat on it. The Capsule must first be transported by semi-rigid means to the outside of the reef before being towed underwater by a propeller. The slings are then fixed and in a few seconds the Capsule is installed.

Thanks to compressed air cylinders, the habitat is then filled with air. The divers then take their place on board for the first time and it is a real moment of emotion for all! Indeed, this project, which started from scratch, now allows three divers to live under the sea for several days at a time.

Except that it is not air that will fill the Capsule but heliox, an atmosphere of helium and oxygen, 7 times lighter than air and therefore super to breathe and which allows a safer and faster decompression.

The divers then install all the equipment on board: 2 lime water filters, 3 oxygen pressure sensors, 1 oxygen injector and its electronics, and the telecommunications system. The batteries are connected and everything works correctement?!

The next step will be a saturation dive - 24 hours of tests - to test protocols, pressurization, procedures and test the team.
