Based on a waterproof (8,000 mm) and breathable (10,000 g/m2) membrane, the gloves, socks and caps will protect the sailor from humidity. Indeed, it is important to wick away perspiration in clothes, because humidity causes the feeling of cold. And if we can also prevent water from spray or rain from getting us wet, we are even better protected. This is the role of the membrane.
Winter or summer socks
For the socks, Plastimo has chosen 2 materials. A first in Merinos that regulates heat. Merino is an anti-microbial wool that also prevents unpleasant odours. This pair of Activ' Merinos socks is available with a high upper. Shorter, the Activ' Coolmax pair is made of polyester to avoid getting too hot and sweating. This material is known to wick away perspiration and dry extremely quickly.
This type of waterproof socks are increasingly used in sailing, because they keep your feet dry even if you go on deck with sneakers or even fangs.
Warm and waterproof gloves
For the hands, a pair of warm gloves is made with the same Merino as the socks. An addition of elastane keeps the glove tightly fitted around the hand. Note the tips of the thumb and index finger in material allowing the use of tactile mobiles without removing the gloves.
The head well protected
Finally for the head, the Activ' Polar cap is lined with a fleece microphone to keep the head warm. But the use of the waterproof membrane is also very useful to ensure waterproofing, but especially windproofing. Windproof, this cap delays the moment when you protect with a hood.
