Abaco, a superyacht tribute to the victims of Hurricane Dorian

The Abaco Superyacht

The Italian shipyard Baglietto has just unveiled a new 40-metre superyacht project designed to pay tribute to the Abacos Islands, which were hard hit by Hurricane Dorian.

Tribute to the Bahamas

Abaco is the new superyacht project of the Italian manufacturer Baglietto by Santa Maria Magnolfi, to whom we already owe several models of the yard. The idea that inspired its design is that of "to live and enjoy the sea to the full." This yacht, designed to sail in shallow waters, takes its name from the Bahamas islands of the same name.

This 40-metre project is a tribute from the Italian shipyard and its designer to the population of one of the islands most affected by Hurricane Dorian. Baglietto will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the first model to the reconstruction of the Abacos Islands as part of a humanitarian initiative.

Its architecture is modern with a vertical bow, bulwarks whose line goes down to the rear, an almost entirely glazed superstructure, numerous hull portholes etc... Its lines are innovative and at the same time robust with many open spaces, linked to the sea.

Huge outdoor spaces s

The main deck offers 120 m2 of outdoor space. It is easy to move around thanks to the side passages, easily moving from front to back. The large front beach is comfortably arranged and allows you to relax in complete privacy, protected by the large bulwarks.

The cockpit houses a lounge area that can accommodate 16 guests for dinner, as well as an overflow pool and its tanning area, extended below by a beach club whose submersible platform allows you to enjoy swimming.

Modular spaces

In front, a conservatory with a bar and lounge area can be fully opened if necessary by means of sliding glass doors from floor to ceiling. This connection between the interior and exterior continues in the main lounge, designed according to the same logic with side windows that open to the front or rear.

This high modularity increases the external space of the main deck to 150 m2.

The owner's cabin has a desk and a bathroom with two dressing rooms. The sleeping area is located on the lower deck with four large cabins. On the same deck are the crew quarters at the bow.

The upper deck, sundeck and forward beach add 170 square metres of open space, offering different spaces for long conversations, lunch or a moment of relaxation in the sun, thus meeting the needs of each customer.

An interior linked to the exterior

The interior design was created as a continuity from the outside. Hence the use of natural materials and light tones such as teak, straw, raffia, linen and tropical woods, which bring an exotic, fresh and elegant touch.

The superyacht is equipped with a garage that can accommodate a 6-metre long tender. At the front, a second garage houses a lifeboat and water toys.

With two CAT C32 ACERT engines, Abaco can reach a maximum speed of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. A hybrid solution can also be considered.

The Italian shipyard Baglietto specialises in the construction of light aluminium alloy yachts between 35 and 50 metres long and displacement mega yachts made of steel and light aluminium alloy over 40 metres long .
