Ariane and Rached want to get some fresh air. This couple, parents of 2 young children, has just dropped everything to make themselves available and enjoy the trip. This family break, it is on a sailboat that they want to experience it. With the objective: to recharge one's batteries as a tribe, to meet all 4 of us to discover and share the world.
Expatriates before dumping everything
Originally based in Paris, Rached's professional life gave him the opportunity to settle in Tunisia. Ariane, his wife and psychologist, follows him. This will be the first expatriation. Their daughter Louna was born here. Then it will be a move to Morocco for another company. It will be little brother Maël who will come to enlarge the family.
But under pressure from the multinationals that employ him, Rached, this music lover (double bass), decided to take the plunge. Why come back to Paris to look for a new job? Why not drop everything and build a great family adventure?
After the end of their contract in the summer of 2019, the family set out to find the ideal sailboat to accommodate the whole family. The four of them are looking for a unit with 3 cabins. And ideally located in the Mediterranean to start the trip.
In search of the ideal sailboat
After many visits, it will be a Sun Odyssey 39 on which they will set their sights. Purchased at the beginning of October 2019 in Port Leucate, it is now their new home that they have logically renamed "Maëlouna". Of course, as often, there are many surprises on this second-hand sailboat and you have to take out the tools to repair it. But the family is happy and can look forward to the big departure.
Departure in November 2019
No world tour in sight (not yet!), but no return date either. For them, it is not a sabbatical year. To begin with, the Mediterranean is reaching out to them. "We've flown over it so many times," Ariane tells us,"that now we want to discover it." The first step will be towards Tunisia. In order to winter there and continue the preparation of the boat. Then other discoveries will follow.
"We gave up everything. We play big, but we believe in it!"
"We no longer want to feel like victims of society, but on the contrary to discover the world as a family," says Ariane, "We have strong ecological values and life on a boat will allow us to put them into practice. What could be more concrete than to manage the resources we have on board independently: water, energy, waste... It is a question of discovering a "joyful economy" by sharing it with the children!
