Quicksilver has decided to modernize its Pilothouse range. The first to take advantage of this new look is the 805 Pilothouse, which succeeds the 755 PH. New hull and new fittings are the main projects undertaken on this model.

A modernized range

The 755 Pilothouse saw the light of day in 2013, but faced with its aging design, Quicksilver decided to replace it. At the end of 2019, the American shipyard will launch its successor, the 805 Pilothouse, which benefits from a much more modern design. The model presented at the Nautic was exposed in its Explorer version with a navy blue hull and black balconies, rod holders and roof rails.

"The entire Pilothouse line will be renewed within 18 to 24 months and the 805 PH is the first model to benefit from this upgrade." explains Sylvain Perret, Quicksilver Product Manager. "We have worked a lot with our dealers in France, but also in the Nordic countries to create a boat that meets the needs of fishermen", adds Sylvain. The shipyard was also able to count on the support of engineers from Boston Whaler, a specialist in offshore fishing boats, since both brands belong to the same parent company, Brunswick.

More space and finishes

While the shipyard has kept the same hull length of 6.99 m to be exempt from taxes, it has gained on the width since the 805 PH is now 10 cm longer with a beam of 2.89 m. Among the features that were important to the shipyard, two symmetrical walk-through doors that allow easy access to the bow. The shipyard has also worked on the finishing touches, notably by integrating a coupe door on the starboard side, which is rare on a model of less than 9 m.

The hull has also been reworked to better deflect the euro spray but also for the visual aspect with a bulge on the front and a redan that goes up very markedly on the V-shaped bow of the boat.

A real fishing boat

If the interior layout is suitable for small cruising, with a double cabin, closed and electric toilet (optional), a small galley on starboard with sink and refrigerator and the possibility to install a removable stove, the 805 Pilothouse is a real fishing boat.

The large Euro cockpit, which can be equipped with a dining area thanks to the folding seats and the removable Euro table, is fully equipped for fishing. There is a fishing station with livewell, cutting table and cup holders as well as a large livewell on the starboard side with pump and water regeneration. "With the development of no-kill fishing, this additional livewell available in the fishing package allows fish to be preserved before release." explains Sylvain.

There is also a rinsing hose, 4 cockpit rod holders as well as foot rails, a wish particularly expressed by customers.

"The first program of the Pilothouse is fishing, we keep the possibility of leaving with the family with the cabin, the friendly space of cockpit with the folding seats or the cushion in the front that turns into a bench seat" explains Sylvain.

Also for fishing, the shipyard has included rod storage on the hard-top of the cabin, which will be appreciated to store its equipment safely.

The cockpit is installed on the starboard side with a dashboard that can receive a 9" GPS screen and two bolster seats for the pilot and co-pilot. As an option, an external cockpit is available. "This option sells a little less in France, but particularly in the Nordic countries. In Norway, 80% of boats are sold with a double cockpit." explains Sylvain.

Moving around on board is easy, thanks to the 3 sliding doors at the rear, port and starboard sides, and safe with the high stainless steel balconies, in which there are integrated storage spaces for fenders.

Concerning the engine, the 805 Pilothouse can receive from 225 to 350 hp in outboard and a double outboard engine of 2x150 hp.
