Favourite Sailing, the 10 boats that marked the year 2019

The year 2019 will have been marked by the launch of prestigious sailing units, but also by small multi-purpose units or volantes?! Here are your 10 favorite sailboats.

Maverick

The Maverick is ultra versatile! Both a dinghy, a paddle and a windsurf, this 3.35 m long boat is designed for both sailors and sailing schools. Very wide (1,30 m), it offers a very good stability and its volume offers a very good buoyancy. Depending on your desires and conditions, you can adapt the platform to various uses: rowing like a paddle, a mast and two seat blocks for sailing, a rudder and a daggerboard for dinghy use, or for windsurfing fans, a mast for a board and that's it!

First Yacht 53

With this 15,98 m sailing boat bénéteau has struck a blow and turned several heads. The Vendée-based shipyard has clearly moved upmarket in terms of both equipment and finishings, and has even hired a specialist in America's Cup racing boats for the architecture of its yacht.

Italian-style deck layout with separate living and sailing areas, comfortable and spacious saloon, but designed for life with a reduced crew, two or three cabin version, this is the universe of luxury designed by Bénéteau.

Amel 60

Due to the success of the Amel 50, launched in 2017, the Amel builder has decided to offer an even larger sailboat 18 m euros at the request of owners. This model designed for a couple adept at ocean cruising can easily be sailed with a reduced crew. The central euro cockpit characteristic of the Amel design, contemporary interior, large fully equipped galley, and huge owner's cabin make this boat a luxurious cruiser for travel.

Spirit 44

Make way for all-electricity! The Spirit 44, which will be launched in 2020, is an elegant, classically styled yacht designed by the British shipyard Spirit Yachts. The concept? A unit of 13.4 m in overall length, entirely electric and without hydrocarbons on board. The Spirit 44 is a mix of modernity and classicism. Low freeboards, long waterline, flush deck, woodwork, but solar panels, electric saildrive and solar sails will meet the specifications of a boat for almost total energy autonomy.

Pogo Foiler

It is not the first Mini with foil euros Arkema was well before him euros but the Pogo Foiler has the prestigious DNA of his yard. Designed for Tanguy Bouroullec for the 2019 Mini Transat, this 6.50 m boat was designed by Guillaume Verdier and built in the Combrit shipyard.

From 12 knots, the boat flies by relying on its appendages: the leeward foil, the canting keel to windward and the rudder(s) aft.

Oceanis 30.1

After the Yacht, the entry level! L' Oceanis 30.1 is the smallest of the Oceanis and is intended for easy use in a coastal cruising program while being financially accessible. The shipyard called upon the Finot-Conq architectural firm.

If the hull is voluminous, the boat remains aesthetic, the designers having found the right proportions between the freeboard and the roof. For ease of use, the fittings are minimalist, and for comfort, the cockpit is convivial, the interior is voluminous and bright: kitchen, saloon with central table, two cabins.

Sun Loft 47

Change of register with the Sun Loft 47! It's no longer a question of intimate sailing with couples or friends, but of partying with up to 12 people on a 13-meter sailboat. Moreover, this concept is not aimed at boaters, but at charterers. The idea is to offer a rental per berth, as it is already the case in multihulls. Under the euro deck, entirely dedicated to sleeping, there are 6 cabins and several bathrooms.

On deck, the huge cockpit and saloon are on the same level with several euro tables that become euro sunbeds and a galley in enfilade.

Sun Odyssey 410

The Sun Odyssey 410 euros is a cruising sailboat launched in the fall of 2018 and designed by Marc Lombard. It takes up the concept of "step-free deck circulation" that appeared on the 490 and 440 in 2018, and thus targets an "all ages" clientele. It comes in different layout configurations: 2 or 3 cabins and 1 or 2 bathrooms as well as a very innovative offset saloon, which are distributed on the same level along the entire edge without a door threshold.

Now available with a lifting keel (draft reduced to 1.37 m), this family cruiser offers the possibility of accessing more anchorages or certain shallow ports.

Befoil

The Befoil was imagined to allow sailing schools to offer a sailboat that rises on its foils, accessible to all sailors. This 16-foot concept born in 2017 in Lorient was designed by the VPLP firm at the request of Benjamin Magnard who was looking for a simple, accessible and safe catamaran.

Sailing the prototype shows that from 10 knots of wind for a light crew (12 knots with 2 adults), the Befoil takes off if you sail on the crosswind.

Mojito 6.50

After the launch of the production Mini, the Maxi 650, the IDB shipyard has always wanted to build a cruising yacht on this same base. This David Raison design shares the same hull mold as its racing counterpart as well as the famous panoramic deckhouse with its vertical portholes, the distinctive sign of a Mojito. This boat will be equipped with a lifting keel.

As far as layouts are concerned, they should be quite simple. With the scow bow, the interior volume will be close to that of an 8 m sailing boat. The double berth at the front will be very large and there should be two berths in the saloon that run under the cockpit.
