Discovery / Tempest 700 Open, deck plan modifications decrypted

The Tempest 700 Open is one of the best-sellers of the Italian manufacturer Capelli. Launched six years ago, the 7.15m semi-rigid enjoys a new youth, in the tradition of the 1000 Open a year before it. The hull remains the same, but the deck plan has been changed. Patrick Jacquin, Product Manager Inflatable Boats and Waverunner explains the differences with the old model.

For several years, Capelli has been rejuvenating its range of flagship models. After the Tempest 1000 Open The Tempest 700 Open, one of the best-sellers in the range, now has a new design. It retains the same hull, but receives a new one-piece rear platform that frames the engine with enlarged bathing platforms. This makes it easier to move from one skirt to another.

While the diameter of the floats (0.58 m) has been retained, they are more inlaid in the polyester return - which is now rounded in shape - allowing the lateral passage area to the cockpit to be enlarged.

The aft bench seat now receives a double hinge - it had a single backrest on the previous model - allowing you to enjoy a large sunbathing area in the cockpit.

In the centre of the boat, the one-piece leaning-post has disappeared in favour of a new, more spacious leaning-post with a thigh pad. The centre console has been redesigned to increase driver protection and now features a more modern design. The dashboard surface - inspired by the automotive world, as Patrick Jacquin, Product Manager for Inflatable Boats and Waverunner explains.

On the bow, the bow locker is larger and the installation of the sundeck is easier. The dolphin boat has also been reworked and offers more surface area to enlarge the mooring area and facilitate landings.

The Tempest 700 Open is powered by a Yamaha outboard motor with 200 horsepower and up to 225 horsepower at maximum power and can accommodate up to 16 people.

After the Open range, it is now the Walkaround range which will benefit from a new look: 1000 WA, 850 WA and the 770 WA.
