Test / Construction of NBC 66, the semi-custom experience

As part of our trial of NBC 66, we tried to quantify the added value created by the Bordeaux shipyard in order to offer a semi-custom super yacht, at a very competitive price and with everything the customer wants.

The CNB 66 is in the tradition of its big brother, the 76. It compiles important architectural evolutions compared to the Bordeaux 60, which still found more than 50 buyers. To go far, fast and in all comfort is of course the Graal sought, but the inescapable of the habits and customs of current navigation were spied with the customers since many years to register in the modernity, even the avant-garde.

A very modern comfort

The luminosity on all floors, the panoramic view, the high headroom, the XXL dinghy garage are all imperatives that must be successfully inserted in a refined line and the most flush-deck possible. If this is easier with the 76', with 10' less, the stylistic exercise has been brilliantly carried out by Philippe Briand. The 66 benefits from the same ergonomic attributes as its big brother. Fluid circulation inside as well as on deck, ease of maneuvering for a family crew, functionality and cozy comfort are on the program.

Top of the line performance

The shipyard wanted to provide this cruiser with very high speed capabilities. The T-shaped keel with lead bulb, pronounced chine on the aft sections and a very wide swept back beam, reminds us that this hull must also have a very stable behavior at sea. With the double rudders and a very slender carbon rig, there is no doubt about the boat's potential for speed and control. The staysail and genoa on electric furling system, the furling boom and the optimized deck layout should allow the power to be exploited serenely.

Streamlined construction for semi-custom

The Quai de Brazza shipyard (Construction Navale Bordeaux), here the last building that houses the assembly of the Lagoon SEVENTY and SIXTY, is separating from CNB Yacht Builders. The monohulls will now be built in the factory of the group's luxury branch in Monte Falcone, Italy. The highly specialized tooling developed thanks to the long experience of the luxury full custom cruisers allows to produce quickly while preserving an extreme quality. The hull and deck in glass/resin/balsa sandwich are vacuum infused as for the most beautiful one-offs. All the assemblies with the efforts of reinforced structures in carbon fabric or that of the fittings are of the most beautiful invoice. All the optional cases have been anticipated in order not to be surprised by the customers' requests once on the assembly line.
