The idea of making children aware of the fragility of the marine world is not new. Yet Thomas and Audrey and their two daughters Louise and Anna make it their hobbyhorse. This Norman head of the family now in Menton believes in it strongly. He set up an expedition project called Thalas using a huge network of schools. Already 750 primary, secondary and even some high schools are following them. The concept: organize a family adventure (Thomas talks about an expedition) to go and meet the "heroes of the oceans" and put them in the spotlight.
In a family of 4 for a 5 year world tour
Thomas Capiten (that's his real last name!) is a communication enthusiast. He makes it his business and you can feel comfortable with it. He is able to convince and goes in search of the budget to organize his family expedition. He has to find the finances to buy the boat (it will be a 40-foot second-hand catamaran) and to finance the life on board of the 4 members of the family. For this he knocks on the doors of the world's big polluting companies. They are receptive to this green message, seeking to be associated with this kind of project open to the future.
For its part, the family that is not unemployed continues to get in touch with the students and to start mapping interesting initiatives in the world.
An application to stay in touch
To transmit, Thalas intends to send 3 videos per month, to make live performances and to share their experiences with scientists. The program is ambitious and to develop it, Thomas has even developed a mobile application. This one will be the link with the boat (geolocation), but also between the folower of Thalas who will be able to meet there to share their ecological experiences.
If the application exists and works with already 1200 downloads, the only thing left to do now is to raise the funds to get the adventure started. We will follow the project and will not fail to give you news.
