Test / Positioning, architecture and manufacturing of the Pardo 38, a little brother for the walkaround range

We tried the new Pardo 38 off Cannes. In a segment highly represented by the industry, the Italian shipyard maintains a level of quality very similar to that of the two largest models released last year and prestigious references of the concept.

Day cruiser of leisure par excellence

Essai Pardo 38

For more than 45 years, Cantiere Del Pardo has produced more than 4,500 boats in its Forli factory. The brand has always held a recognized position with its famous Grand Soleil yachts, racy and well finished. Motivated by a buoyant powerboat market, she has made her assets available for a very trendy range of day cruisers, strongly inspired by the Wally Tenders that appeared almost 20 years ago. The 43 and then the 50 were the start in the top range. Today this 38 is aiming for a larger market share

Tailored to seduce

Essai Pardo 38

The relationship with his two older brothers is unequivocal. Tight lines with vertical sides without portholes or protuberances, inverted bow, streamlined T-top, steering position with 3 bucket seats, deck entirely on one level are the distinctive features that the shipyard's design office in collaboration with the Zuccheri Yacht Design studio have concocted for this successful range. But by reducing the size, it becomes more difficult to maintain the same functions, both in terms of appearance and layout. But the objective of attraction is well achieved here. The line does not suffer in any way from this reduction in size and we will see that the benefits are not lost either

A very sporty hull

Essai Pardo 38

Even more designed for fast cruising than its two elders, the 38 has a sportier and more fun hull. The choice of outboard engines, 2 or 3 Mercury Verado 300 hp or 2 inboard Volvo engines ranging from 280 hp to 440 hp with power transmitted by Z-drives, raises the level of lift of the hull. As a result, for at least one metre, the forefoot is well above the water and the very pronounced V is progressive to a very low level of the overall trim. A much more aggressive behaviour is sought and development has been planned for speeds above 50 knots

The meticulous details

Essai Pardo 38

The shipyard has been accustomed to providing quality constructions since 1973 and naturally benefits from this great experience. And this level is easily noticeable when boarding, because the finishes are very well done. The T-top is made of carbon, the hull is vacuum infused and large ribs ensure good rigidity. The deck is covered with Flexiteek (synthetic teak) and the removable anchor locker shows the attention to detail that ranks the level of elegance.
