Test / Accommodation and life on board the Pardo 38, two cabins for family cruising

Before leaving the old harbour to try out Pardo 38, we take a look at the interior and exterior fittings. The verdict is indisputable: nothing is missing to spend a beautiful day of idleness on the islands or even to go on a family cruise.

The deck plan is very ergonomic. All movements on board are very fluid from bow to stern with a very pleasant feeling of security, the walkaround formula is proven with a real cabin under the bow sundeck. With 5 feet less than its big brother, it is necessary to use modularity to offer the same services. The six-person dining table at the stern can be converted into a sunbed by lowering the table using a hydraulic stainless steel leg. Once in that position, it is very large. On our model, all that was missing was the ability to tilt the rear seats to create a rear-facing bench seat, but this will be offered on future models. The white Silvertex upholstery fitted as standard is very pleasant to the touch and the rear parcel shelf is fixed, but large enough to be comfortable.

The central module sheltered by the T-top houses a galley which is well enough protected and also well equipped to support the crew. Cooking hob, sink, fridge and plenty of storage space are sufficient to store food and utensils. Optional refrigerated drawers can be placed under the benches

At the bottom of a short descent, the layout with a headroom of 1.80 m, which would be usual for a cabin-cruiser, is even more so for a walkaround. However, you will have to resort to options to have the second cabin, as it will only be a hold as standard. While the double bed is spacious with a width of 160 cm the twin cabin below deck is rather reserved for children, as the headroom is reduced to 1.20 m. Thanks to a tunnel-like cavity in the deck under the pilot seats, an adult can stand in the middle to get dressed, but this will only be suitable for a night or two, not much more

Between the two cabins is the bathroom which is spacious. It is equipped with electric toilets, but does not include a separate shower as on 43. The woodwork according to the custom of the building site is well treated. The light oak species are very modern and an alternative exists with grey oak. Stainless steel is just the thing to enhance the atmosphere and the Corian washbasin in the bathroom is as attractive as it is practical to clean. The cruise is therefore possible, but with a family with not too big children.
