Narvalo, the rugged polar expedition superyacht

As a tribute to the animal whose name it bears, the Narvalo is able to navigate in the polar zones thanks to its hull specially developed to break the ice.

A huge airplane hangar

Narvalo is a 134-metre long three-masted polar-class sailing yacht with six decks and a sturdy profile. At the bow, an imposing dolphin-like structure recalls the animal from which it takes its inspiration, the narwhal.

It is equipped with a feature never before seen on a boat, a 224 m2 aircraft hangar with a huge runway to land safely in any conditions. The hangar can accommodate up to three small helicopters, a submarine and a large expedition vehicle.

A system of electric davits makes it easy to raise and launch equipment, particularly research equipment.

Under the airplane hangar is a huge beach club with platforms that unfold at sea level.

De-icing masts

As with his previous project - Caribu, a polar class three-masted ship also - designer Steve Kozloff wants to install a de-icing coil system for masts and yards, a bit like it is practiced in aeronautics. Handrails and doors will be heated to avoid this problem.

An interior space spread over several levels

In the centre of the boat, a very large indoor swimming pool with its terrace is overhung by a huge atrium topped by a dome. The latter, retractable, allows you to enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of the sea. When the atrium is completely closed, it will be nice to be able to enjoy a swim during a polar voyage.

The 186 m2 owner's suite is installed across the entire width of the boat and is located under the foremast, and therefore benefits from a panoramic view. Narvalo also offers 2 Master suites and can accommodate up to 14 guests and a crew of 20 in the utmost luxury. The interior space is spread over several levels, with curved bulkheads and a multitude of large windows to enjoy the view.

To ensure everyone's safety, it is equipped with two free-fall release lifeboats, which could deploy in the worst conditions. Below deck, the garage can house numerous tenders and water toys.

The spacious flybridge houses a wheelhouse as well as a relaxation area for 6 people. The rear of the flybridge is reserved for the spa.

Sail or motor

Narvalo can sail at a cruising speed of 12 knots and cover 6?000 nautical miles powered solely by its diesel engines. It will be able to increase its autonomy by using a diesel-electric hybrid system to complement its sails. Under sail only, her maximum speed will be 22 knots. Thanks to its polar hull, Narvalo will be able to navigate easily and break the ice in reasonable conditions.
