The backpacker is that little guy who carries the world around like a backpack. This time, he puts on his oilskin and boots to become a "Routard of the Seas". In partnership with the Almanach du Marin Breton, the Guide du Routard publishes a book covering Southern Brittany from Brest to Piriac-sur-Mer.
This small size will be very handy at the chart table of our cruising units. Indeed, it combines navigational information from the Almanac and tourist information from the Routard.
When you approach a port from the sea, you start by finding out about the access conditions, the channel, the buoys, the lighthouses, the topology of the port, the harbour master's office, the sanitary facilities... All this information is gathered in the Almanac and repeated here in the Routard des Mers. There is also a map of the port (taken from the SHOM maps and updated by Marin Breton). We appreciate the fact that the dates of updates are indicated, which allows us to validate the information. The tariffs of the ports (2019) are even indicated.
After the navigation comes the time to discover the port of call. What to see, what to do, where to eat, where to have a drink... This time it is the backpacker who takes over, with instructions written down so as not to make a mistake.
This guide will be a precious ally to discover Southern Brittany. Widely illustrated, it will give good indications on the port of call in order to choose the best one for this summer's cruise. We can only hope that the port will not be too overcrowded in the middle of the season, as there is no indication of this in this guide ..
