A very compact and lightweight radome
The Radar Halo20+ is integrated in a radome on which the design office has managed to save 1.5 kg. Now this particularly compact 51 cm (20 inch) radome weighs only 5.9 kg. However, the range is not compromised, because under favourable conditions it can offer a range of up to 36 M.
Immediately available technology
The radar does not require a warm-up time before displaying the first images, it is immediate. The navigator will benefit from this immediately.
Highly accurate near vision
But it is not with its farsightedness that this radar stands out, it is rather on the very short ranges that are often useful for sailing boaters whose speed is not excessive. Entering a harbour in foggy weather or crossing the cargo rail requires a quick image refresh. The Halo20+ has a rotation speed of up to 60 rpm (Depending on the range required, the Halo20+ has a rotation speed of 60 rpm, or one image per second).
Moving targets identified
The Velocity Track function uses Doppler technology. This allows you to intuitively display moving targets using a specific color as they approach or move away from the boat.
A double screen
With a minimum range of about 10 meters (depending on the installation height of the radome) and a maximum range of up to 36 MN, it can be interesting to display two scales simultaneously. The short range scale allows you to track close targets presenting an immediate danger while the more distant environment is in the second window. The target acquisition function (ARPA) allows you to automatically track a target to prevent a possible collision.
Pre-recorded functions
Setting up a radar often requires special skills as the parameters are so numerous. A bad adjustment will not allow to read the images effectively. To avoid this, B&G has programmed "user modes" that fully configure the device according to the navigation situation: harbour entrance, open sea, search for weather systems (squalls), and even bird spotting (fishermen are gusting with them).
