Anchoring is now forbidden between Bagaud and Port-Cros

Port-Cros, a superb island in the heart of the National Park of the same name, has a regulated anchorage. In order to preserve the seabed, the area between the islands of Bagaud and Port-Cros, just in front of the port, is now forbidden to anchor.

The National Park of Port-Cros (Var - 83) is setting up a ZMEL (Zone de Mouillages et d'Équipement Légers), i.e. buoys to moor passing boats. This is a good initiative which will avoid pulling out algae with successive anchors (posidonia is present on this site). Of course, this will require a financial contribution from the users.

If daytime mooring is free (from 8 am to 6 pm), at night (from 6 pm to 8 am) mooring at a buoy will be possible under reservation and payment. The mooring will not be able to exceed 5 successive nights and in order to offer the possibility to the greatest number of people to enjoy the site, the rate will increase with time: The first two nights are at the basic rate of 0.58 euros including tax x m2 of the boat (length x width). After two consecutive nights, the rate doubles for each subsequent night. For one night, therefore, count about 17 euros for a 10 x 3 m boat and about 30 euros for a 12 m boat.

65 buoys for boats up to 30 m

The Park will set up 65 buoys spread over 4 anchorage areas:

60 buoys (reserved for units from 0 to 15 metres) in 4 anchorage areas :

  1. North Bagaud (11)
  2. South Bagaud (19)
  3. Anse Saint-Pierre (15)
  4. False Currency Cove (15)

5 buoys for units between 15 and 30 metres.

Vessels over 30 metres in length are not permitted to use the facilities of the MLA. The mooring of more than one vessel on a buoy is prohibited. By way of derogation, pneumatic units less than 5 m in length may be moored in pairs and alongside on a single buoy (subject to mutual acceptance).

A clean zone

In order to take advantage of all these anchorages, it is mandatory to have a clean ship. That is to say, a boat equipped with toilets that have black water tanks. Nothing is specified for the numerous semi-rigid boats that travel around the area during a family day..

However, jet-skis are not allowed to navigate in this area (even at reduced speed). The practice of towed water sports (water skiing, buoys.) is also forbidden. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are not welcome either (forbidden!). On the other hand the practice of Paddle is allowed.

If the speed is limited to 5 knots (we are in any case within the limit of 300 m), it is specified that sailing boats with a motor must sail with the motor running and with the utmost caution.

Anchoring on anchor prohibited

It will therefore no longer be permitted to drop an anchor in this zone between Bagaud and Port-Cros. Within the MELA, authorized vessels will only be allowed to moor at buoys, except in cases of absolute necessity (security).

On the buoys reserved for them (5 buoys over the whole area). Large boats (between 15 and 30 m) will always have to keep on board a crew able to manoeuvre the boat if necessary.

Device in place for the 2020 season

This Order shall enter into force on 1 April 2020. However, in order to allow the system to be set up, the Port-Cros National Park has decided that night mooring, for which reservation is compulsory from 8 June 2020, will not be paid for during the first weeks of operation

For appeal, the landing on Bagaud Island is prohibited, it is an integral reserve.
