The Ovni 650, a new integral dinghy for Alubat's ocean voyage

At the request of a customer, the Alubat shipyard has worked on the design of a 65-foot long-distance cruising yacht, the Ovni 650, based on the Ovni 400, launched in 2019.

A one-off project

It was following a specific request from a customer that the Alubat shipyard worked in collaboration with the architects Mortain-Mavrikios and the design firm CBA (Mr Brouns being one of the figures of the steel and aluminium travel boat) to design the Ovni 650. This 100% aluminium, fully dinghy long-distance sailing yacht has a hull length of 19.80 m and follows the line of the Ovni 400, i.e. an inverted and rounded bow - perhaps a little less massive than its predecessor. The hull has been somewhat modified with a slightly raised forefoot and an evolutionary chine. This was a desire of CBA, which the customer had initially approached.

This boat designed for long voyages is equipped with an imposing pilothouse that integrates the chart table, benches and cockpit, to navigate well protected. Inside, the deck saloon offers a panoramic view of the outside. The layout is offered in three or four cabins with a large owner's cabin aft.

As far as the motorization is concerned, the Ovni 650 will have two engines of 115 HP each, for a total power of 230 HP.

A range in development

In view of the positive reception received by the Ovni 400 since its launch in September 2019, the shipyard now wishes to develop a range based on this first model. While this "custom" project is the largest model ever built by Alubat, other customers want smaller models. Thus, the yard is already working on the design of models below 40 feet, which should be revealed soon.

Why a new architecte??

The client for whom the Ovni 650 was developed had first contacted CBA. Mr Brouns who was in contact with Hakim Ramoun, the new general manager of Alubat proposed this collaboration to the building site. And since the model is based on the Ovni 400, designed by Mortain-Mavrikios, it was logical that all these people collaborate on the design of the Ovni 650.
