At the end of a fierce battle in the leading trio - made up of Charlie Dalin (Apivia) and Jérémie Beyou (Charal) - Thomas Ruyant (LinkedOut) was the first to tack the waypoint situated furthest north in the Vendée - Arctic - Les Sables-d'Olonne. A fine performance for the Dunkirk sailor, who is making his first solo race on his IMOCA. On this first section of the race, Thomas Ruyant, was able to dominate his two strong rivals, including Charlie Dalin, who had taken the lead of the fleet.
There are now 1,550 miles to go for the frontrunners, with a second passage point at the Gallimard buoy, repositioned 400 miles off Les Sables-d'Olonne.
There are now 6 solo sailors on their way home, including one of the four women in this race, Samantha Davies (Initiatives-C?ur), who is in 4th position, less than 20 miles from the frontrunners. And at the head of the fleet, the battle is still intense with less than 3 miles between the top three. Isabelle Joschke (MACSF), 7th, and Clarisse Crémer (Banque Populaire X), 9th, will in turn be heading south during the day.
The first competitors should reach Les Sables-d'Olonne on July 14th.
