The skipper of the round-nosed Crédit Mutuel Class40 hooks a second victory to his prize list for the 2020 season by winning the Drheam Cup.

After his record in the British Isles, Ian Lipinski took his second victory of the season on his Class40 Crédit Mutuel. Setting out from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin on Sunday 19th July 2020 for the 550 mile Dhream Cup race, the skipper and his three crew crossed the finish line in Trinité-sur-Mer on Tuesday 21st July at 11.30 pm.

He won the race in his category after 2 days, 10 hours, 15 minutes and 24 seconds, after a fierce battle with Nicolas Groleau's class40 Panalad.

Having set off in the lead during the first hours of the race, as far as England, the quartet fell behind by not opting for the right sails. Eventually managing to reduce the gap, Ian and his crew managed to regain the advantage when they reached Brittany, crossing the line with 44 minutes and 36 seconds on their pursuer. Lamotte Module Création (Luke Berry) completes the race podium.

"We have fun all the time at sea, but it's nice to win after a good fight. It's nice to win after so many twists and turns. It wasn't all restful, I didn't get much sleep, but we got on well, we had a lot of fun and it was very rewarding. In terms of learning, we had a lot of fun and it was very rewarding. We never made the same one, but we were able to find variations. It's experience that will serve us well in the future!" explains Ian Lipinski.
