Astus 14.5, a fun, powerful and simple prao to cast off without constraint

Having fun while sailing without constraint, that's what the Astus 14.5 has to offer. And when this tempting program is offered at less than 5000, all that's left to do is to cast off.

Succeed in proposing a sailboat of character for less than 5000 euros. Such was the challenge of the design of the Astus 14.5. To return to the simple pleasures of sailing. Astus Boat has imagined a use which is close to a kayak. To be ready to embark quickly without constraints.

For this you need a light, fun and simple boat. No trailer, no engine, just 2 hulls, a sail, a rudder and a daggerboard. And we leave the beach!

The Astus 14.5 designed by VPLP (please!) is a prao. It has a central hull which houses a windsurfing type mast (without shroud) with a mainsail threaded on the tube (5 m2). The float is connected by 2 aluminium tubes which are bolted on the central hull and just braced by ropes blocked with a wedge. An aluminium sabre daggerboard and a rudder installed, in less than 5 minutes, you are ready to sail.

Sailing on a prao is a lot of fun. In "Pacific" mode, the helmsman regulates the balance by moving on the trampoline. The Astus 14.5 is then balanced on its central hull and glides without brake on the water. In "Atlantic" mode with the float downwind, the crew member is then placed in the cockpit of the central hull, pressing on the float.

Offered at less than 5000 euros in its prao version, the Astus 14.5 is without a doubt the cheapest boat on the market in the category of dinghy with a rigid hull. It is easily loaded on the car's gallery by a single person. The central hull weighs barely 20 kg. Less heavy than a rotomolded kayak!

The Astus 14.5 will also be available in trimaran version (+ 800 euros for a float and longer tubes). For better close-hauled sailing (and for light airs), a 5 m2 gennaker on furler will also be offered (+ 800 euros). After having sailed a prototype throughout the summer, Astus will present the Astus 14.5 from November 2020.
