Test / Gozzo 45 by Apreamare: A concept from the traditional boats

part 1 of our test of the Gozzo 45. The Apreamare shipyard, founded more than 140 years ago, is now specialized in the construction of neo-classical motor boats. Inspired by traditional Neapolitan fishing boats, the Gozzo 45 is the flagship of the shipyard and complements the Gozzo 35, launched in 2021.

A construction site in a niche market

The Italian shipyard Apreamare specializes in the construction of neo-classical motorboats inspired by traditional Mediterranean boats. The family-run shipyard, located in Campania, offers a short range of boats and favors handcrafted production.

Neo-classical inspired by traditional fishing

The Apreamare shipyard was founded in 1849, when Giovanni Aprea began building fishing boats in the traditional style, the "Apreamare" gozzo sorrentino ". The site continued from generation to generation until the Second World War.

After the conflict, the Neapolitan shipyard stopped its production of workboats to concentrate on the growing pleasure boat market.

In the 1970s, the arrival of Cataldo Aprea in the family shipyard in 1973 marked an important turning point in the company's operations and the manufacturing methods used.

With the support of Salvatore Pollio, Cataldo Aprea founded Apreamare Srl in 1988. The shipyard joined the Ferretti Group in 2001, allowing the shipyard to grow and improve its production facilities.

But the Neapolitan families Aprea and Pollio take over the control of their yard in 2010, while developing a diversification of its range.

The Gozzo 45, which is today the flagship of the shipyard, was preceded by its younger brother the Gozzo 35. With the same aesthetic codes, its commercial success convinced the family shipyard to expand the range.

With an overall length of 14.7m, the Gozzo 45's hull is designed by Umberto Tagliavini, while the design was entrusted to Marco Casali.
