The Aventura catamarans appeared in the early 2000s and have made a place for themselves in a competitive market, offering a well thought-out layout and careful construction. Here is a look back at the history and evolution of a young shipyard that has made its mark on the cruising catamaran market.

A project born in Charente-Maritime

Born in 2000, the story of Aventura Catamarans began in Charente-Maritime, in Marans, where the shipyard produced light sailing catamarans, dedicated to coastal camping. Aventura first built a 23-foot catamaran, before progressively moving upmarket with a 28-foot and then a 36-foot catamaran.

In parallel with this range, the shipyard has developed a series of small monohulls, as well as a model for fishing.

In 2006, the production site in Marans could no longer meet the growing demand. A new factory was then installed in Tazarka, Tunisia.

Around 2015, the shipyard began its collaboration with naval architect Samer Lasta, who will breathe new life into the Tunisian shipyard's productions. The entire range is revisited, in order to improve the habitability and the behavior under sail of Aventura catamarans, as Eric Roger, the executive director of Aventura Catamarans explains:

" Our strength is to make the best use of the volume of our catamarans, in order to offer a very nice interior ergonomics, while guaranteeing good performance under sail. For example, our Aventura 45 is available in a charter version with 6 cabins and a skipper's berth, which makes it the most habitable boat in its category "

The same year, the shipyard moved again to a 12,000 m2 site in Menzel Bourguiba near Bizerte. The production costs in Tunisia allow Aventura Catamarans to maintain attractive prices compared to the European competition.

Released in 2021, the Aventura 37 has quickly made a name for itself in the sub-40-foot catamaran market. Its asymmetrical deck layout provides uncluttered ergonomics for maneuvering and resting areas. The helm station and the piano are well defined, and the crew will not be hindered in maneuvering under sail.

The interior layout offers the kind of livability found on 40-foot units. Offered in a choice of owner's version with 3 cabins, or charter version with 4 cabins and 4 heads, it has quickly found its clientele.

Today, the shipyard offers 4 models in its catalog, from 37 to 50 feet, with sail or motor. Aventura Catamarans has a series called DC, for Day Charter, which is intended for professionals of the sea.

230 people are at work on the site of Menzel Bourguiba, which generated a turnover of 20 million euros in 2022.

With an annual production of 60 boats, the shipyard intends to meet the growing demand by expanding its production site. A new 7,000 m2 wing will be inaugurated in 2023, and will allow Aventura Catamarans to establish itself on the world market.
