A versatile program
Distributed in France by Marçon Yachting, we went to try the Maverick at the CV of Martigues, one of the sites selected to host the 2024 Olympic Games. At first sight, it is the general line of the Maverick that surprises.
Its scow bow and slim hull are unlike any other. And for good reason: the Maverick is the only boat on the market to offer such versatility: dinghy, windsurfer, paddle or simple swimming pontoon, it can do it all and adapt to everyone's desires.
A neat construction
Made of rotomolded polyethylene, the Maverick benefits from a construction known for its solidity and its capacity to absorb shocks without flinching. With a length of 3.35 m, it weighs 43 kg and can be transported on the roof of a vehicle. Its maximum load is 155 kg, which allows it to carry two crew members.
The self-supporting aluminum mast is in two parts, making it easy to transport. The centerboard and rudder are also made of aluminum, and will easily withstand a sporty finish on the beach. For its dinghy rig, the Maverick is offered with a choice of two sail areas: 5 or 6.25 m2. For windsurfing, any sail area is adaptable.
In dinghy mode
The assembly of the Maverick in its dinghy version is done in less than 10 minutes. Everything is designed to be as simple as possible, without the need for tools. The sail is mounted on the mast with a simple sleeve, and the rudder is quickly clipped onto the transom. The daggerboard takes its place and the inflation of the two bladders is done very quickly with the pump provided.
At the helm, this flat hull quickly offers great gliding sensations, and offers its crew an excellent behavior that will reassure beginners.
The stability of the Maverick's shape makes it possible to practice stand-up sailing. You can remove the two bladders from their slides and enjoy this fun and safe activity, which develops your sensations and sense of balance.
Metamorphosis in windsurfing
The transition from dinghy to windsurfing board takes less than two minutes. The self-supporting mast, the daggerboard and the rudder are removed.
The board fin is fitted at the rear of the hull, and is fixed with two butterfly nuts that are tightened by hand. The mast step is inserted in its housing: everything is ready!
If the wind is absent, the Maverick can be used as a paddle. Once again, its stability will allow 1 or more paddlers to enjoy this practice.
And if that wasn't enough, the Maverick is also capable of being used as a sunbathing or diving beach.
A toy for a houseboat?
If the Maverick can be used as a family dinghy from a beach, it is also capable of finding its place on a large liveaboard. Once at anchor, it will serve as a multifunctional "toy" for the whole crew.
