A Frenchman wins the title of world champion in motorboat F1


Philippe Chiappe, 51 years old, F1 driver for the CTIC China Team (French entity financed by Chinese funds) was crowned world champion of F1 motorboating by winning the last round of the F1 championship.

This Friday, December 19, the end of the F1 motor racing season was completed with the last round taking place in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates. And it is a Frenchman, from Rouen, who won the prestigious title! Philippe Chiappe thus becomes the F1 world champion but also the first Frenchman to win the title since the launch of the competition 31 years ago! Favourite since the last stage in Abu Dhabi, on November 21, Philippe was only three points ahead of the Italian Carella (Team Qatar), triple world champion from 2011 to 2013, but with an average speed of 170 km/h, he achieved the best lap of the race.

He started racing in 1990 in the S850 and entered the F1 class in 2006. Thanks to a lot of work and investment, he finished at the 2nd place in the F1 category eme place in the 2012 world championship and won the 24 Hours of Rouen and finished 3 ème of the world championship in 2013.
