Budding Rose, pancake peach!

Marie makes pancakes from the cockpit of her boat. With a delivery by a hanging basket, an unusual attraction in the middle of the Maritime Holidays of Brest 2016.

Marie and Jean-Philippe live aboard Budding Rose, a 1923 herringerman. This herring fishing boat was built in Shetlands. Built for pleasure in 1990, they bought the boat in 2007 and now use it as their main residence.

We met Marie in her cockpit behind her billig (gas-heated cast iron crepe maker). At low tide, the boat is 5 m below dock level. So to deliver her pancakes to the visitors of Brest 2016, she installed with her husband Jean-Philippe a system of basket, mounted on a coming and going: a pulley at the top and another at the bottom and the basket ensures delivery!

This very nice little business allows them to maintain this 12.75 m Zulu hull (16 m overall with the bowsprit) and sail everywhere in Europe. Being part of the traditional flotilla of basse Vilaine (an association based in La Roche-Bernard), they regularly return to Southern Brittany.
