/ Farol knife, marine luxury on the belt

Back to the roots of Farol knives with the "Cachalot Squelette", a knife entirely made of stainless steel that reminds us of sperm whale hunting.

The expensive Farol are real sailor's knives. They are undoubtedly marked by their history. Indeed, it was during a visit to the Azores on his sailboat that Sylvain Berthommé cut the handle of his first model. This one will be shaped like a sperm whale, an emblematic animal of these islands.

Back in La Rochelle, he settles in the old fish market of the fishing port to produce his knives. Today, the small business has become large with 2 workshops and many knives that criss-cross the seas.

The latest Farol knife is a kind of return to the roots. Indeed, it evokes the skeleton of a sperm whale with the body represented by the bones and the tail showing a living animal.

This "Skeleton Sperm Whale" knife is entirely made of stainless steel, the handle as well as the blade. Each part is TIG welded one by one. The tail first and then loaded with material. It is then shaped to give it a "living" shape that is comfortable to the touch.

Each side of the sperm whale is then welded one by one. A long finishing work and then undertaken (mainly polishing) to give this shiny aspect. The 12 cm blade in Sandwick 12c27mod steel offers a 10 cm edge.
