Special Edition / Navicom RT750, fixed VHF and very compact AIS

Navicom launches the RT750, a new fixed VHF with integrated AIS. A model which is an evolution of the RT850 (a black box), but which also offers a large screen.

Navicom has made a name for itself in VHF. All boaters are familiar with the small yellow and black laptops. These VHF's are widely distributed up to the big racing teams.

RT850 VHF black box

In 2017, Navicom released its first fixed VHF model. The RT850 is a "black box" type VHF: only the handset remains visible, the body of the VHF is hidden, stored in the console. This model is practical for small boats which can unplug the handset at night, leaving nothing visible for thieves. The RT850 is available in VHF DSC only or with the AIS option. Navicom has developed the new RT750 based on the technology of this black box VHF.

A shallow box

In April 2018, this distributor launches the RT750, a fixed VHF with the physical characteristic of being very shallow, barely 15.7 cm. This advantage facilitates installation, particularly on the consoles of open hulls or semi-rigid hulls. The lack of space to position its depth sounder or its engine instruments often relegates the VHF in an incongruous position, at knee level for example..

The RT750 also benefits from a large LCD screen. This two-colour backlit screen has 8 grey levels. The 4 keys below the screen can be set according to the programs. The external microphone can also be used to control the VHF.

A version with integrated AIS receiver

The RT750 is a VHF DSC VHF that meets future RED standards. These standards require that the GPS receiver be external to the VHF. So to use the DSC functions (and in particular to activate the Ditress function from the button on the front panel), the RT750 will have to retrieve the signal from a GPS via the NMEA 0183 network or by adding the GPS option which is connected to the rear of the VHF via a coaxial cable.

In its AIS version, the receiver is integrated into the VHF and uses the same antenna as the VHF. Targets are visible on the display. The Ais has built-in TCPA and CPA alarms to keep watch. The NMEA 0183 output gives the possibility to connect this unit to a computer or a plotter to see the position of other vessels directly on the chart.

The RT750 and RT750 AIS are sealed on the front panel (IPX7).
