Exclusive / DIAL, the bracelet designed by the SNSM to trigger an alert

The SNSM launches a beacon to trigger rescue for all water activities, whether at sea or on the beach. Designed by Philippe Stark, this beacon is a good system to trigger an early and accurate alert

To each his own connected bracelet. The one launched by the SNSM is special. It does not activate when you fall into the water or when you move away from the receiver. The DIAL (Individual Alert and Localisation Device) developed internally is a device for water sports enthusiasts to alert emergency services and be located in real time.

A GPS for geolocation

SNSM's experience shows that in rescue, speed of response is essential. But too often the location of the shipwrecked person is not precise. That's why the association has developed a bracelet that contains a GPS. This determines the exact position of the bracelet. If an alert is triggered, simply by pressing the top of the bracelet, this position is sent directly with an alert message.

SNSM DIAL

Requires GSM access

This alert message is transmitted by the GSM network, thanks to a multioperator SIM card inserted in the beacon and usable in 36 countries in Europe. This bracelet therefore only works within reach of the coast (up to about 10 miles offshore). In the event of an alert being triggered, the shore referent is alerted and can then prevent the emergency services. Emergency numbers are pre-registered in the smartphone application in order to contact the appropriate services without delay (CROSS, fire brigade...). If the wearer of the DIAL bracelet is at sea, the call of the emergency number 196 by the referent on land triggers the automatic sending of an email to the CROSS messaging system. A hypertext link allows the CROSS shift manager to immediately geolocate the alert beacon and monitor its evolution at sea.

SNSM DIAL

An application to set the tag

An application, downloadable on smartphone allows you to set up your beacon, but also to consult the position at any time. With the stored position history, it is also possible to redo the route taken by the beacon during the day. This is reassuring for those waiting for the return to port.

For children on the beach

If this beacon will be useful for a sailor when he goes out to sea, it can also be carried by a child on the beach. His parents will then be able to set up a security perimeter. An alert will be triggered if the beacon leaves this perimeter. A good solution if children move away from the surveillance zone.

SNSM DIAL

Features and characteristics

The beacon has a 12-hour autonomy (in normal mode with a position every minute) and is recharged by induction (wireless). The beacon is waterproof to 10 m but only works once out of the water.

This model is available from the SNSM for 119 € including VAT with a subscription for 80 hours of use. Refills will then be offered according to everyone's practice.
