The Race shoe has been developed for experienced sailors. But given its commercial success since its launch (summer 2018), it is likely that it will also be carried by many boaters.
A very adherent sole
Special work has been done on the sole. The shoe must not slip on the deck. Just like a car tyre that has to adhere to wet ground, the Race shoe has a sole design with a very straight geometry to evacuate water well. The wave pattern was not retained because it does not allow the water to drain off quickly enough. The soles of this type also wear out more quickly.
For the quality of the sole, the approach with the designers of running shoes allowed to find a rubber (the sole is made of real rubber) not too hard to adhere well, but not too soft so as not to wear out too quickly.
Quick drying
Having to operate in a wet environment, it was also necessary to find a material that dries very quickly. Voluntarily the fabric is not waterproof. Water that enters from the top of the shoe drains out through the sole, which is pierced. But unlike some shoes whose soles are pierced at the bottom and whose feet get wet just by walking in water, the sole of the Tribord shoe drains the water on the sides, through channels dug into the thickness of the sole. No holes underneath!
The fabric used does not soak up water and dries very quickly. A water-repellent treatment was applied to it. Tribord also announces that it has succeeded in reducing the drying time by a factor of 4 compared with its previous models (from 16h to 4h).
Lightness and comfort
To be comfortable, the Race shoe is based on the basics of running shoes with good foot support and a rigid upper. But also with a very light shoe. In addition to these technical data, this shoe also incorporates the design codes of sports shoes. The Race shoe is available in 3 colours, each with beautiful fluorescent colours for the interior and laces.
But above all this very technical model is available for only 40 euros. Probably also one of the reasons for its commercial success..
