Loomie, a painting that illuminates!

French paint specialist Comus offers an aerosol of photoluminescent paint. Applicable on all surfaces, this paint will light up at night. A great tool to ensure safety on our boats.

A clear photoluminescent surface at night. Unlike a fluorescent surface that reflects light (increasing its effect like a road sign that reacts to car headlights), a photoluminescent surface accumulates light during the day (artificial or natural) to re-emit it at night. Often hand watches have photoluminescent hands to read the time at night.

Loomie is a paint spray that applies a photoluminescent paint (or varnish). This waterborne paint is based on acrylic resin and contains luminescent pigments. Thus a surface painted by Loomie restores light for 10 hours after its last exposure to light.

These paints are used in the building to mark emergency exits. But we can find uses in the boat such as painting door handles or drawing passages on the front passes. Or why not sign its hull to recognize it by anchoring.

Loomie is applied by a very fine spray. The application must be made exclusively on a white background for maximum luminescence. In painting, Loomie gives a matt fluorescent yellow tint while the varnish version gives a matt aspect with a slightly yellow coloration of the varnish due to the presence of photoluminescent pigments. It is recommended to apply 3 coats. Both paint and varnish can be used indoors and outdoors provided that the surface is protected from the elements by a universal gloss varnish.
