Visit Fetes Maritimes de Brest were organized for the first time in 1980 by a handful of old-gear enthusiasts. In 1992, the city of Brest hosted the event, and has done so every four years to date. After the 2016 edition, which Bateaux.com shared with you, the 2020 edition returns from July 10 to 16.
The organizers are expecting over a thousand boats from all over the world, and an ever-increasing number of visitors. Last year, 712,000 visitors flocked to the sunny quays.
Maritime ports of call
In 2020, the traditional guest countries will give way to "maritime ports of call": the Atlantic, Pacific, Mediterranean, Indian Oceans and the poles.
A scenography will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the heart of this maritime space and discover its heritage: gastronomy, music and entertainment.
Choose the poster!
The public will choose the poster for the Fetes Maritimes de Brest! Three poster projects are up for public vote from April 18 (voting opens at 12 noon) to May 2, 2019, by visiting the Brest Evènements Nautiques website. After 2 weeks of voting, the poster with the most votes will become the official Fetes Maritimes poster.
An important moment for the organization, as the publication of the official poster marks the launch of official preparations!
