The maxi-trimaran Edmond de Rothschild suffered heavy damage during the Route du Rhum 2018. The day after the start, the starboard float was largely amputated of its bow. The Gitana Team invites you to discover the backstage of the race, from the day before the start to the damage in a short video of less than 5 minutes, called "The Facts."

On November 4, 2018, the departure of the Route du Rhum in 2014, which I won without a sponsor . In the classroom Ultim 32/23 in particular, a lot was expected from If Lorient la Base attracts so much it is also because we dream there... Thanks, in particular to this pole : it has attracted renowned skippers such as Armel Le Cléac'h, Yann Eliès, Sébastien Josse, Jérémie Beyou, Jean-Pierre Dick, Thomas Ruyant, Tanguy de Lamotte, Isabelle Joscke, Stéphane Le Diraison, Jérémie Beyou, Charles Caudrelier, Sam Davies... in total about a hundred of them have settled there! And with them, they brought of course, their fabulous sailing boats including Banque Populaire, Groupama, Edmond de Rothshild, Gitana Team, Monin, Time for Ocean, Charal, Saint Michel, Initiatives c?ur.. on his trimaran Edmond de Rothschild. Unfortunately, the next day, as he was at the head of the fleet and making spikes at 44 knots, the skipper was forced to give up. Shortly after 5:30 a.m., the flying boat came to a sudden stop. When Sébastien Josse climbed onto the deck, he noticed that part of the bow of his starboard float had been lost.

He then contacted his technical team, who arranged for the boat and sailor to return to shore before a new low hit the Bay of Biscay

In order to trace Edmond de Rothschild's departure, damage and refit, the Gitana team has produced a series of three very short episodes. These videos allow you to discover the internal work, but also the interactions with the different actors: race director of the Route du Rhum, member of the technical team, architect...
