Web series / The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild returns to its float

This last episode "From Rum to Water" deals with the repair of the float - carried out internally, a first - of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild. The boat has now been in the water since Thursday 23 May 2019, in the hands of her two co-skippers, Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier.

It took 6 months for the bow of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild to return to its position forward of the starboard float. While the design office and the architect Guillaume Verdier were trying to understand how the float breakage could have occurred, the Multiplast yard (Vannes) is working on the production of the moulds. Because the old wooden moulds had not been preserved.

This time of manufacturing the moulds therefore made it possible to understand the damage, and thus to launch the production of the new bow with the necessary reinforcements

It was within the Gitana Team, in Lorient, that the grafting took place. This was the first time that the composite team in particular had carried out this type of work. As Franck Cammas, the boat's new co-skipper, explains, Gitana has all the departments necessary for performance. No need to use external service providers.

Finally, the expected launch took place on May 23rd, 2019 in the presence of the 2nd co-skipper, Charles Caudrelier, who was reassured by this repair

Finally, if the whole team had taken a big blow to their morale with the breakage of this bow, the reconstruction of the boat allowed everyone to regain their motivation.
