Special Edition / EWOL, a highly efficient feathering propeller

For sailboats, EWOL propellers are a concentrate of technology that offers improved performance for both the engine and under sails, without complicating installation and adjustment.

Engine performance

From the very first moment, the EWOL propeller surprises with its forward and reverse thrust compared to fixed and folding propellers, making the boat very easy to manoeuvre and with very smooth reversals.

The forward thrust is comparable to that of a fixed propeller. In reverse the thrust is significantly higher than any fixed or folding propeller on the market. It allows exceptional manoeuvrability. This feat is achieved thanks to the central blade coordination gear that forces it to the pushing position. This also eliminates almost completely the drift of the boat.

Performance under sail

With blades that move in line with the boat's axis (feathered), the elimination of the hydrodynamic drag under sail makes it possible to gain between 0.5 knots and 1 knot of speed and also allows the inverter to remain at rest. The propellers that must block the inverter eventually cause wear and tear on the mechanical parts.

To give you an example at 8 knots: with a fixed three-bladed 17-inch propeller, the resistance of the propeller is around 45 kg. With a three-bladed folding propeller (foldable), the resistance is between 5 and 10 kg. With an EWOL propeller the resistance is around 2.5 kg. 18 times less than with a fixed propeller!

Ease of implementation

Mounting and dismantling an EWOL propeller is easy: the propeller can be installed and removed without disassembling the propeller itself, these operations require less than 5 minutes, without the need for special skills and can also be done easily with the boat in the water (with a diver).

The micrometric pitch adjustment, between 8 and 10 times more accurate than other products on the market, can be performed underwater in 20 seconds and allows the boat's performance to be precisely adjusted.

The original propeller pitch is set at 20°, but it can change between 14° and 26° with intermediate increments of 0.25°, which corresponds to increases in engine speed of about 50 rpm. The precision of the adjustment is very important, as it allows you to choose the right cruising speed without giving up speed and helps to reduce fuel consumption.

A quality propeller

The propeller is made entirely of stainless steel alloys that offer exceptional mechanical strength and galvanic corrosion resistance (thus offering superior durability).

The bearings are made of interchangeable bearings that allow easy and precise maintenance without high maintenance costs. By changing these bearings, we find a propeller identical to a new one even after several years of operation.

All EWOL propellers are factory balanced, with precise dynamic balancing to less than one gram. This ensures that the propeller does not generate any vibration. For sail-drives, the FlexDrive version is delivered with a shock-proof seal for the subbases. The standard surface finish is rough (sandblasted) to increase the adhesion of an antifouling.

EWOL propellers are guaranteed for 3 years with customer service open every day during working hours, and even on Saturdays and Sundays (on mobile phones).
