How far away is the capsizing of Lalou Roucayrol's Arkema Multi50 on the Route du Rhum 2018?! On his trimaran Lalou Multi, he has just won the Brest Multi 50 Trophy and thus becomes the French champion of the discipline.

3 Grand Prizes, 3 victoires?!

After St Quai and Douarnenez, the final round of the Multi50 Grand Prix was held in the bay of Brest from 5 to 7 September 2019. One last test - encore?! - won by Lalou Roucayrol (Lalou Multi), who thus becomes the French Multi 50 Champion. During the three days of racing, he surpassed his four competitors, winning 7 of the nine races in the race. Our collaborator was also invited to share the first day of racing on Gilles Lamiré's Groupe CGA .

French Champion

"This is my third French champion title, but the others were in another one époque?! Of course I wanted it. It's mainly because we're doing the grand slam, we're slamming the three Grand Prix. The icing on the cake is the Brest Trophy. It's a real plus. There was work on the part of our teams, but also on the part of the crew we had on board. Objectively, we had a little more trouble on this Grand Prix, because we had less training with Jean-Baptiste and Romaric coming back for the first time so we had just one day of training before" explains Lalou, who is known as the "Jedi Master of Multihulls".

He is thus signing his third French champion title since he had already distinguished himself many years ago in a sports catamaran (Formula 28).

Speed run for Thibaut Vauchel-Camus

Thibaut Vauchel - Camus (ARSEP - Solidaires en Peloton) took second place. "We would have liked more, but Lalou was above the crowd," Thibaut admits. However, he is delighted to enter his name in the book of the highest speeds with a run at 32.22 knots (60 km/h) recorded on Thursday.

A high-performance trimaran for sale

This last day allows Loïc Fequet (Ciela Village) to climb on the third step of the podium. "It's a bunch of friends and we thank Thierry Bouchard for lending us Ciela Village. It's very nice for him to have a podium, because he wants to sell it. It proves that the boat is very efficient." loïc smiled.

Transat Jacques Vabre objective

Sébastien Rogues (Primonial) finished fourth while Gilles Lamiré (Lt-Gen Mille et un sourires) took fifth place. They will participate - in the same way as Thibaut Vauchel-Camus - in the Transat Jacques Vabre, which departs from Le Havre on 27 October.
