Dives on the wrecks of France, an illustrated collection of 113 sites

With very realistic drawings, Dive on the wrecks of France describes 113 sites to discover underwater. A Prévert style list for divers and a world to discover for the uninitiated.

Four authors, all divers in love with wrecks, gathered to propose a collection of wrecks from France. This is not an exhaustive list, but simply a list of wrecks that are worth visiting while scuba diving.

Plongées sur les épaves de France

The book begins with a map with the Channel, Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts (with Corsica). A total of 113 wrecks are listed. Then each of the wrecks is described in a double page dedicated to it.

First, the eye is drawn to the drawing. That's the strength of this book. This drawing by Olivier Brichet allows us to discover the wreck in its entirety, laid on the sea bed. It's like we're diving ourselves over the place. A much better vision than the real one given the lack of visibility in some waters. These drawings are realistic, precise and give a perfect view of the condition of the wreck. Thus we will be able to see some of them totally dispersed in the background or others perfectly preserved.

Precisely geolocated thanks to the GPS coordinates transmitted, we find with the drawing, a technical sheet of the wreck with first of all the depth at which we discover it. Then comes the text that gives us a historical overview of the wreckage and the diving conditions. We can only blame the absence of the geographical area when we turn the pages at random. You should refer to the map at the beginning of the book to find out if you are in the Channel or Corsica.

Plongées sur les épaves de France

Certainly this book will not be a diving guide, but it may make you want to discover some sites. Whether it is boats, submarines or planes, it shows us an invisible part in the eyes of sailors who are content to stay on the water, avoiding adding other pages to this already very complete book.
