Mantagua Navipro, an approved traffic light for navigational purposes

Passing the standard for approving high beam headlamps is no easy task. Numerous criteria such as light power or colorimetry must be met, all with angles of heel representing the boat's heel. The Mantagua Navipro lights have just passed these tests.

Mantagua is a French manufacturer. This specialist in navigation lights is based in Brittany. It is a brand of the historical electronics manufacturer Breizelec. Today all the design of the products is imagined internally in Brittany (3D drawing of the parts, printed circuits...), the plastic parts are subcontracted in France and the products are assembled in the company. A total Made in France!

Mantagua is known for its resin cast navigation lights. Used on many boats, especially for offshore racing, these lights are particularly strong and totally waterproof. Only the resin poses a problem for the diffusion of light and colour. These lights do not meet all standards.

Based on this experience, Mantagua has just designed a new range: Navipro. This time the LEDs are no longer embedded in the resin, but contained behind a translucent glass. Thus the Wheelmark 60427/A0 MED certification could be obtained. These lights are regulatory for boats of less than 20 m. On the watertight side, they meet the IP67 standard.

These lights also comply with the EC 2014/90/EU standard for radio emissions. Indeed, often placed close to VHF and AIS antennas, the LEDs (electronic components) must not interfere with radio emissions.

On the consumption side, these lights, which have a range of at least 2 miles, consume 3.24 W (0.27 A at 12 V). Their supply voltage ranges from 10 to 30 V. They are therefore suitable for boats equipped with 12 or 24 V. Their low consumption does not require large diameter wiring. A positive point when you need to power the top of the mast of a sailboat.

The lights come in many versions: a tricolour to be installed at the head of the mast, a combined version that integrates the 360° white light for anchoring, a regatta version with a strobe light and automatic lighting at night... Some models, without the foot, are designed to be installed on a flat deck or on top of the deckhouse of a motorboat for example. There are no less than 16 versions per model! Enough to find the right light for your boat.
