Engine, what to choose to propel your boat?

From the competition outboard motor to the electric motor for the tender and the inboard motors of the launches, the motorization of our pleasure boats is changing every year. And there is no shortage of ideas and inventions to satisfy boaters.

DF115BG and DF140BG
Suzuki

Suzuki improves its existing range. Thus the 115 and 140 hp gain electronic controls for 2021. These controls are already in use on the engines with higher power ratings, and are therefore well proven. For the occasion, these powers have also been equipped with a 40 A alternator to support the electronics, in particular the large sounders, which are quite greedy in electricity. At the same time, the "old" DF115A and DF140A are still on the market.

V Max SHO range

The V MAX SHO 90, 115, 150 and 175 hp outboard engines are now imported into Europe. These sport-fishing boat models are lightweight, compact and guarantee maximum torque without compromising Yamaha's renowned quality, endurance and reliability. These 16-valve inline 4-cylinder units range from 1.8L to 2.8L.

Tender engine

Temo is an electric motor which is presented and used like a scull. Lightweight, waterproof, with integrated battery, with a telescopic handle, it is easy to handle and propels a dinghy without difficulty. With a selling price of 1450 euros including tax, a French manufacture and an additional set of accessories, the Temo electroportable propeller naturally finds its place on the market of small power engines and could quickly become established on all water bodies, in France and abroad.

Microplastic collector
Suzuki

The Japanese engine manufacturer Suzuki is trying to reconcile motorized navigation and ecology. Not by creating a fuel-saving system, but by adding a microplastic collector filter to the cooling system. This way the yachtsman while sailing will collect and clean the sea. The idea seems interesting and could probably easily be applied to other marine engines.

Racing 360 APX
Mercury

The Mercury Racing 360 APX competition outboard is a four-stroke V8 engine designed specifically to power boats in the Formula One World Motorboat Championship. This championship attracts the world's top F1 teams who compete on catamaran-type hulls capable of hairpin turns at over 145 km/h and reaching 225 km/h in straights. This engine comes to replace the 2 strokes currently in use. The 360 APX, derived from the Mercury Racing 300R and which can turn at 9600 rpm, is reserved for competition.

Saildrive SD15

With the SD15, Yanmar makes this transmission available for power ratings from 80 to 150 hp. Tall yachts or multihulls will now be able to adopt the Sail drive without having to go through the tree line. The Saildrive SD15, manufactured by ZF, can be coupled to the Yanmar 4JH80, 4JH110 and 4LV150 common rail engines.

Andromeda E3 Propeller
Ewol

E3 Andromeda is the smallest of the Ewol propellers. This model is based on the principle of its bigger sisters Orion and Pegasus. It is suitable for sailboats from 18 to 30 feet. It is a stainless steel feathering propeller with gears that ensure perfect blade orientation during sailing. A micrometric adjustment ensures a perfect pitch for an optimization when running the engine.

Rim6
Hy-Generation

After 5 years of research, the RIM6 electric thruster comes on the market in pre-series. It is a nozzle with self-regulating blades according to the rotation speed. Its carbon marine nozzle houses a brushless and hubless motorization, submerged during operation. Its watertightness does not rely on flexible seals and allows you to navigate serenely in river as well as in the sea. Handy and lightweight, this propeller weighs only 12 kg and is easy to integrate on your boat thanks to its outboard or custom integration options.
