Does the next Vendée Globe seem like a long way off and you don't know how you're going to make it until then? Look no further, we have THE solution! Louis Duc invites you to join him in his Vendée Globe 2024 project, to help him complete the budget for the refit of his IMOCA. A surprising financial package.

One boat, many lives

Launched on April 8, 2021, the "Your savings around the world" operation, piloted by Louis Duc from Normandy, allows you to invest some of your savings in a Vendée Globe project in order to help the skipper give a new life to his IMOCA. This 2006 Farr design, sistership of Yes we Cam !, was wisely waiting in the V1D2 shipyard in Caen, for a skipper to see her potential, despite the damage caused by a fire in 2019, a few days before the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre.

Bought in the fall of 2020 by Louis Duc and his associates, the refit is underway, with the first objectives being the preparatory races for the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Route du Rhum. This old generation boat, which has been in the hands of Vincent Riou (PRB), Tanguy de Lamotte (Initiatives Coeur) and the recent Vendée Globe winner Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq), promises great sporting performances and has the full confidence of Louis: " I knew that this boat, even if it was damaged, could be given a second life with a reliable sporting objective for a Vendée Globe. We know that once she's been rehabilitated, she'll perform well again."

Saving a boat with great potential

Louis is not new to this project, as he had already recovered a Mini in very poor condition during his first offshore racing project, which he had completely refitted to line up at the start of the Mini-Transat. Today, the philosophy of the project remains the same, with only a change of scale concerning the support.

The skipper from Caen wants to give meaning to his adventure:

  • by valuing the work of independent contractors on its site
  • promoting the principles of the circular economy
  • by proposing to give meaning to lenders' savings through an alternative financing mechanism.

To do this, you will need to purchase one of the 150 tickets at a price of 1,000 euros per ticket. The investments will be repaid annually for 5 years, with an interest rate of 2%. What if the project does not start? Don't panic! The repayment will be covered by the sale of the boat, which will have gained in value thanks to the current shipyard. About thirty lenders have been announced to date, including Halvard Mabire who applauds Louis' courageous approach: " It is good to fight to save boats. We have already seen some, and beautiful ones, which were repairable and which unfortunately went to the garbage. "

It's up to you!

Interested parties have until May 20, 2021 to make themselves known through the project website: votre-epargne-autour-du-monde.fr. Participation is open to all, whether you are a freshwater or saltwater sailor, young or old, an adventurer at heart or an adventurer for a day. It is an opportunity to follow a project in its entirety, to tell a beautiful story in November 2024! And as one of the lenders says: " I love seeing the beautiful images of all these sailors able to go above and beyond to make a dream come true!"
