Style exercise, François Gabart validates his new autopilot for Macif

Macif is testing the new autopilot for his trimaran. François Gabart plays to be drawn by his Diam 24 on a foil paddle. Surprising images when you see that there's no one aboard the sailboat!

Is there a pilot on the sailboat? That's just it! To test his new automatic pilot, the one that will be installed on the Ultim Macif trimaran, François Gabart simply had fun being towed by his Diam 24, without anyone on board!

Macif uses a modified Diam 24 to test the phases of flight in a trimaran. This"Mini Macif" is equipped with foils and support plan on the rudders. This time, the Macif team accompanied by the autopilot manufacturer Madintec used this platform to test the new autopilot.

Macif François Gabart

For fun, François Gabart went solo on the boat to be towed on a paddle equipped with foil (SUP to foil). A drone flies over him to let us enjoy these unusual images: no crew aboard the trimaran, but just a skipper who pilots him, towed on his SUP foil!

Obviously François Gabart liked the exercise even if it ended with a swim. Now that the autopilot is ready, it remains to validate it by many hours of navigation on the Ultim.
